- Originally released in 1999, the drum & bass duo's milestone mix is available digitally for the first time.
!K7 is reissuing Kemistry & Storm's 1999 DJ-Kicks mix as part of the series' 25th anniversary.
In the 20 years since the UK duo's mix was first released, it has achieved cult status and a place in the history of both drum & bass and the DJ-Kicks series. Kemistry & Storm are credited with helping put Goldie's Metalheadz label on the map in the mid-'90s, and their star only rose throughout the decade, culminating in this 17-track mix featuring J Majik, DJ Die, Test, Goldie and more.
Kemistry (Valerie Olukemi A. Olusanya) died in a car accident in April 1999—three months after the DJ-Kicks mix was released. Storm (Jayne Conneely) is still an active DJ as DJ Storm. Read more about Kemistry & Storm's history and impact in this Guardian interview with DJ Storm from last year.
The reissue also marks the first time DJ-Kicks: Kemistry & Storm is available now digitally, via download and streaming, with the vinyl edition to come on May 8th.
!K7 kicked off its 25th anniversary celebrations with a Mr. Scruff mix in March.
