The New York-based experimental percussionist Greg Fox will release a second album, Contact, for Rvng Intl. in May.
The eight-track LP sees the powerful drummer continuing to integrate sensory percussion—software that converts percussive output into virtual instruments, while training focus on his virtuosic drumming. For Contact, Fox worked closely with the producer Randall Dunn, who has collaborated with the likes of Oren Ambarchi and Sunn O)))'s Stephen O'Malley.
Along with the album announcement, Fox has launched a fundraiser to build a public-facing recording studio in New York. "I hope that if anything this campaign can be a source of encouragement to others," he writes on the Kickstarter page. "I believe in the future of music. I believe that we will find a way to get through this."
