The Icelandic artist beat out John Williams (Star Wars IX), Randy Newman (Marriage Story), Alexandre Desplat (Little Women) and Thomas Newman (1917) for the honour, which follows the Golden Globe and BAFTA she's won in equivalent categories earlier this year. She also recently composed scores for the Chernobyl miniseries (for which she's also won an Emmy) and Sicario: Day Of The Soldado.
