  • The Academy Award for Best Original Score went to Hildur Guðnadóttir tonight. The Icelandic artist beat out John Williams (Star Wars IX), Randy Newman (Marriage Story), Alexandre Desplat (Little Women) and Thomas Newman (1917) for the honour, which follows the Golden Globe and BAFTA she's won in equivalent categories earlier this year. Guðnadóttir has a long history in electronic music, releasing albums on Touch and collaborating with the likes of Pan Sonic, Sunn O))), Hauschka, The Knife and more. She also recently composed scores for the Chernobyl miniseries (for which she's also won an Emmy) and Sicario: Day Of The Soldado.
