- The release comes with liner notes from Brian Eno.
Jon Hassell is putting out a remastered version of Vernal Equinox.
The 1977 album pioneered what Hassell called "Fourth World," which mixed jazz, electronic processing and effects (including his own manipulated trumpeting), ambient, field recordings and world music. It remains one of his best-known albums, and preceded his 1980 collaborative LP with Brian Eno, who writes liner notes for the Vernal Equinox reissue (Hassell contributes some too).
The reissue, which is out on March 20th—the actual Vernal Equinox—will be the second release on Hassell's Ndeya label, following 2018's Listening To Pictures (Pentimento Volume One) album.
Hassell will also release an album of new material this summer.
