  • Gilles Peterson is starting a new label called Arc Records. The first release, which comes out January 2020, is a 1978 reissue of Musica Infinita, a psychedelic jazz record by Mexican drummer and composer Tino Contreras. Peterson found the record years ago before a gig in Japan. Years later, while booked to play in Mexico, he was surreptitiously introduced to Contreras by record collector and musician Carlos Icaza. The three of them agreed to reissue Musica Infinita. It fits the UK DJ's description of Arc—a label for "curiosities and gems from the basement." Listen to "Sinfonia Del Quinto Sol."
