  • Gavilán Rayna Russom will release her debut solo album on Ecstatic this Thursday. The Envoy takes influence from Ursula K. Le Guin's science fiction novel The Left Hand Of Darkness. It features vocals by Cosey Fanni Tutti as well as brass arrangements by composer and Arthur Russell collaborator Peter Zummo. The album, which is largely devoid of percussion, employs a mix of analogue and digital synths, and incorporates elements of long-form solo recordings Russom made in the late '90s. Russom, a trandisciplinary artist and a stalwart of New York City's club and avant-garde scenes, has previously released on Ecstatic as Hail Of Arrows and Paper Eyes. She is and was a part of several influential electronic groups, including LCD Soundsystem, The Crystal Ark, Delia & Gavin and Black Leotard Front. Listen to "Kemmer" featuring Cosey Fanni Tutti.
