  • A Drexciya exhibition is opening in Zürich this week. Organised by Gentrified Underground and titled Bubble Chamber, the exhibition runs from November 15th through December 23rd at the Up State and Mikro galleries. Paintings, covers and drafts by Detroit artist Abdul Qadim Haqq will be on display while the forthcoming graphic novel, The Book Of Drexciya, will be on sale in limited quantities. Haqq was the visual artist behind imagery for the likes of Drexciya, Underground Resistance and Maurizio. The exhibition also includes an event at Mikro on November 16th, where Drexciya founder Gerald Donald will perform under his Arpanet alias. Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun's 2010 short film, Hydra Decapita, will be screened. After that, Maïté Chénière will perform at the space on November 28th. In December, Up State will host the launch of Bubble Chamber, a double-vinyl release that showcases Drexciya's influence while also touching on predecessors such as Iko and Tom Ware. It also features tracks by XOR Gate (another Gerald Donal alias), Detroit electro staple DJ Dijital, The Exaltics and more. The exact launch date is still TBA. Listen to clips from the record.
