  • Salon des Amateurs is back. The Düsseldorf venue closed in November last year to repair the effects of water damage incurred back in 2017. Now it will open its doors again on October 25th for the first of two events featuring some of the DJs that helped shape its sound since first opening back in 2004. Cofounder Tolouse Low Trax will be joined by regulars Philipp Otterbach and Frank D'Arpino on Saturday, October 26th, while the opening party on the Friday sees DJ Rasputin, Aki Aki and Rearview Radio behind the decks. According to the Facebook event, attendees can also expect spatial and conceptual changes. However, according to an August report by Westdeutsche Zeitung, nights will now have to stop at 4:30 AM and the space will operate during the day as a cafe-restaurant for the adjoining Kunsthalle art museum. Learn more about Salon's closing party in an episode of The Hour from earlier this year, and read about the space's history in this in-depth feature.
