  • Not-for-profit organisations the Association For Electronic Music (AFEM), Help Musicians UK and Music Support have shared a guide to mental health focussed on the electronic music industry. The The Electronic Music Industry Guide To Mental Health builds on a 2016 guide by Music Managers Forum and provides descriptions of anxiety and depression, as well as how they might manifest. The guide also discusses substance abuse and dependency, balancing work and life, stress management, imposter syndrome and healthy workplaces, plus it suggests additional resources, organisations and reading. You can read and download the guide here. Last year, a survey by digital music distributor Record Union found that 73 percent of independent musicians report struggling with their mental health. Watch our 2013 Between The Beats film with Motor City Drum Ensemble, which is considering recommended viewing in the guide for helping to understand anxiety and depression.
