  • Labyrinth has cancelled the first day of its 2019 festival this weekend. Originally scheduled to run from Saturday, October 12th, through Monday, the 14th, Mindgames has announced that it will not begin as planned due to the forecasted Super Typhoon Hagibis, which is expected to bring 90 MPH winds and heavy rains. "The levels of rain now projected on Saturday are extremely high across a large part of the country," Mindgames writes, "so it is now clear that trying to start the event on Saturday would not be safe." The festival will instead begin on Sunday, the 13th, at Hodaigi Camping Ground. (For more details on what this cancellation means for attendees, see here.) "On Sunday morning, as soon as we can assess the situation, we will announce the music start time," Labyrinth's team continues. "We don't know when that will be, but our team will be doing whatever it takes to enable the earliest start possible. We have worked through typhoons in the past, and we will do so again." This year's lineup features live performances from Donato Dozzy, Grand River and art of production subject Surgeon, as well as his The Transcendence Orchestra project. DJ Nobu, Peter Van Hoesen, Batu, Sandrien, Eric Cloutier and more are also set to play, though it's unclear how Saturday's cancellation will affect the programme. The 2019 edition marks some changes for Labyrinth. In addition to pushing back the festival's dates from mid-September to mid-October, Mindgames changed the location after nearly a decade at Naeba Greenland. Read the full statement.
