  • London club The Cause will close its "first chapter" in January 2020. The independent Tottenham venue opened last April with an aim to raise £25,000 for charity partners Mind In Haringey, C.A.L.M. and Help Musicians UK in its limited run. Now, they've surpassed £50,000 total raised, with six months to go till its official closing date. The autumn and winter programme features the likes of Batu, Jennifer Cardini, Maurice Fulton, Avalon Emerson, Joy Orbison, Ben Sims, Alienata, Lil' Louis and more, with more parties still TBA. As it stands, the closing party will take place on New Year's Eve 2019. There's no word yet on when or where The Cause may reopen for its next chapter and what will happen to the DIY station it houses, Threads Radio. (Kristina Records moved out this summer.) The club was initially planned to close after a one-year lease, but the agreement was extended until January 2020 in April.
