  • Dego will release a new LP, Too Much, on 2000BLACK this September. Dennis McFarlane's third solo album sees him collaborating with a number of singer and songwriters, including Nadine Charles, Sharlene Hector and Lady Alma. The 14 tracks are "a genre-defying mix of soul, two step, funk, jazz, boogie and R&B—all dance musics that focus on heritage and natural rhythms," the press release reads. It's Dego's first full-length since 2015's The More Things Stay The Same, though he released an LP with regular collaborator Kaidi Tatham on Sound Signature in 2017. Of course, McFarlane has been an innovator in hardcore, drum & bass and broken beat stretching back to the early '90s, when he started working with Marc Mac under legendary aliases such as 4Hero, Tom & Jerry, Jacob's Optical Stairway. McFarlane has released a statement along with the first track off the album, "A Strong Move For Truth," featuring Nadine Charles.
The power of entering into the political debate. Understanding that global politics is local politics. Don't take the rhetoric of the campaigns to heart, focus on the real world actions over time. Lobbyists and the direction of NGOs everywhere are highlighting the danger of placing Industry over people. Strength of holding on to universal and honest moral principle. The songs are reminders. Reminders are posters to keep passing on the information.
