- The newest installment of the three-part series features tracks from DJ Haram, Saint Abdullah and more.
InFiné will release the second volume of their partnership with the Arabstazy collective, Under Frustration Vol.2, in September.
The Under Frustration project "takes stock of the contemporary Arab electronic scene and highlights its diversity by deconstructing Western clichés that are still fantasizing about a culturally homogenous Arab world," reads the press release. Under Frustration Vol.2 features tracks by DJ Haram, Saint Abdullah, Khan El Rouh, OkyDoky, Hello Psychaleppo and more, and will be jointly released on Shouka, the label home of Arabstazy.
Arabstazy is a multidisciplinary artistic platform "dedicated to the interconnection between heritage, identity, culture, and digital arts in the Arab world." Founder Mettani describes the collective as "a medium to keep questioning the meaning and the relevance of the supposed Arab unity by exploring and facing the way the Arab world is perceived, but also how it perceives itself, perceives others and perceives its own perception of itself."
While the first volume of Under Frustration focused on Tunisia, Egypt and Berlin, the second volume turns its attention to producers who "represent the diversity, heterogeneity, and complexity that defines the Arab world," some of whom are in exile "in countries that have adopted them and shape their music consciousness."
As with Under Frustration Vol.1, the Lebanese NGO Basmeh & Zeitooneh, which provides relief to Syrian refugees, will receive a portion of the profits from the compilation.
