DJ Lag has a co-producer credit on a track on Beyoncé's Lion King: The Gift album.
The South African gqom artist tweeted today that he co-produced track 12, "My Power," featuring Tierra Whack, Beyoncé, Busiswa, Yemi Alade and Moonchild Sanelly. The Gift includes a number of new Beyoncé songs as well as contributions from big-time rap artists (Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Childish Gambino) and African pop stars (WizKid, BurnaBoy, Mr. Eazi).
"This soundtrack is a love-letter to Africa, and I wanted to make sure that we found the best talent from Africa," Beyoncé said in an interview with ABC. "It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me."
DJ Lag has an EP with Okzharp coming out on Hyperdub on Friday (the same day as the Beyoncé soundtrack).
