Pharmakon is releasing her fourth album, Devour.
The LP, out through New York label Sacred Bones in August, is said to be some of Margaret Chardiet's densest and most unhinged noise work yet. Conceptually, its five tracks use the imagery and language of self-cannibalism to address the self-destructive nature of humans.
"This album is dedicated to all who were lost to their own demise, all who have been institutionalized; whether in prison, psychiatric facilities, or drug rehabilitation," said Chardiet. "It is for all those ostracized by and isolated from a totality which chews them up alive in a self-cannibalizing caste system."
Pharmakon released her last album, Contact, in 2017.
