- Label mainstays Homemade Weapons, Ancestral Voices and Torn contribute to the Hannya compilations, out later this month.
Experimental drum & bass label Samurai Music will release a series of three various artists 12-inches called Samurai Hannya in late July.
The series draws its inspiration from the "Hannya masks, [which] capture the stages of transformation of a female character as she undergoes a metamorphosis into a demon / ogre." Each 12-inch is named for a different stage of this transformation, Hannya White (Ghost) | ??, Hannya Red (Snake) | ??? and Hannya Black (Demon) | ??. The set, which will also be released digitally, features the first two collaborations from Samurai head Presha (with Homemade Weapons and Ancestral Voices), label regular Torn, fellow Russian producer Roho and Last Life, to name a few.
Listen to Roho's "Totemz."
