  • Masami Akita, AKA Merzbow, is releasing an album called Noise Mass, which is a revised and updated version of his 1994 album Hole. Due out next month on the long-running experimental label Room40, the LP comes with a 28-page book featuring photos and an extended interview. The original album dates from a period where Merzbow was beginning to tour extensively, which is when his practice shifted "from being a studio project into a fully fledged performative undertaking," the label says. Noise Mass involves a number of his first homemade instruments alongside found objects. It's Akita's second release for Room40 following the live recording Monoakuma. This release also coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Merzbow project. Listen to "Voicematrix Pt. 1."
