The second edition will take place in Berlin and Paris, featuring the likes of Hieroglyphic Being, Leroy Burgess, Marcellus Pittman and Parrish himself.
J.A.W has announced the details of its second Family Reunion.
Teaming up with Theo Parrish and his Sound Signature label, the French collective has planned three live shows—one in Paris at New Morning on October 8th and two in Berlin at Festsaal Kreuzberg on the 10th and 11th—and a 72-hour Griessmuehle takeover from October 11th to 13th. Theo Parrish and several Sound Signature affiliates will play before each live show, as well as over the weekend at Griessmuehle as "artists in residence."
The first two shows in Paris and Berlin will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Oakland's Black Jazz Records and will feature a rare live show from influential Black Jazz members, including multi-instrumentalist Doug Carn, vocalist Jean Carn, bassist Henry Franklin, guitar player Calvin Keys, drummer Michael Carvin and trombone player Steve Galloway. The prolific musician and Black Ivory member Leroy Burgess will perform with a full band at the third show, with Theo Parrish and Specter playing back-to-back for the opening set. Marcellus Pittman, Hieroglyphic Being, Nicole Misha and Employee (AKA Max Graef) are also among the DJs who will play throughout the festivities.
Tickets are available on RA from June 19th.
The first Family Reunion took place in 2016 to celebrate J.A.W's tenth anniversary. Theo Parrish also played at that run of parties, joined by the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble, Floating Points and Hunee.
