Loscil will release an album called Equivalents in August via Kranky.
It's the 12th solo album from the Vancouver ambient composer, who's been releasing with Kranky since 2001. His method here was inspired by the early 20th-century photographs of Alfred Stieglitz, who was known for "abstracting clouds into miasmic, painterly canvases of smoke and shadowplay," the label says. The title is a reference to Stieglitz's notion that his photographs were equivalent to his state of mind.
