  • Jeff Mills is reviving Purpose Maker for a new release. Purpose Maker started in the mid-'90s as an offshoot of Axis meant for more house-informed music than Mills's usual techno fare. The label hasn't put anything out since 2010—when Mills was in the midst of his Drummer series—but now it's back with an EP that boasts two Terrence Parker versions of the 1999 Purpose Maker track "If." The A-side features a new vocal from Detroit artist Merachka, while the flipside is a straight-up remix of the original (which has a vocal performance from Anna F). The 12-inch is out now. The original mixes of "If" were reissued last month as part of the second instalment in Axis's ongoing The Director's Cut series. Read our Art of DJing feature with Mills here. Watch a trailer for the new release here, and listen to the original "If (We)" below.
