  • Sydney venue in Cake Wines Cellar Door will cease trading next month. Established in 2016, the Redfern spot may have been a world first—a cellar door with a Funktion One sound system. Over its three years of operation the intimate venue straddled the line between wine bar, restaurant, cultural space and club, hosting parties with artists like Moodymann, Fatima and Alexander Nut, Amp Fiddler, HTRK, Jay Daniel and CC:DISCO, as well as brunch events with Suzanne Kraft, Tornado Wallace and Francis Inferno Orchestra. The venue posted a statement about the closure on Facebook, saying "Despite the ongoing success of the venue across all parts, it’s become clear that we have outgrown our beautiful space. We’re at the end of the first term in our lease and feel this is the time to move on and pursue other opportunities for Cake Wines around the country and world." Details about a final-night event on June 15th are still to come.
