The Dirtytalk crew are working to give Bristol a new venue.
Shaun Tennant, Kerry Patterson, Robert Needham and Leigh Dennis, AKA Leewok, have been throwing parties in the UK city for nearly a decade, and are now hoping to open their own space this autumn. Located under a carpark on Fairfax Street in the city centre, the 330-capacity Strange Brew will have two performance spaces, a bar, cafe, exhibition gallery, and record shop. It'll have a D&B Audio soundsystem and work with local sound engineering company Amber Audio. The venue will have a license to stay open till 1 AM during the week and 3 AM on the weekends.
They launched a Crowdfunder campaign today, with a goal of raising £45,000 by June 6th. So far, they've raised nearly £11,000.
"For some time we have been searching for a more permanent home," Dirtytalk says in the Crowdfunder campaign. "We aim to create a music and arts venue that we believe is sorely needed in Bristol, which will offer a fun and welcoming place for many groups and individuals to meet and connect, as well as be a platform for a diverse range of local and international artists, performers and subcultures."
