Amnesia has won a lawsuit to prevent the Italian DJ—who is still contracted with Amnesia—from performing anywhere else on the island.
Ibiza superclubs Amnesia and Pacha are embroiled in a dispute over Marco Carola's Music On residency.
The residency is due to launch at its new home, Pacha, on Thursday, May 16th, though a local court has just ruled against the Italian DJ performing anywhere on the island except Amnesia, given that he is still contracted exclusively with the San Rafael club, Diario De Ibiza reports. (Music On ran for seven years at Amnesia.) Should he break the contract, he could face a fine of €2.4 million. The exact details of Amnesia's contract with Carola are not public.
"This is the penalty agreed upon in the contract," a representative from Amnesia told Diario De Ibiza.
That said, judging by Pacha's official website and Carola's Facebook page, the May 16th opening party still appears to be going ahead as planned, with Stacey Pullen and Antonio Pica joining Carola.
Resident Advisor has reached out to Pacha, Music On, Carola and Amnesia for comment. Amnesia declined, and the rest have yet to reply. We'll update this story further as it unfolds.
*Correction: A previous version of this article said that Pacha had declined Resident Advisor's request for comment, when it was in fact Amnesia.
