  • Jóhann Jóhannsson's early works will be reissued as part of a voluminous Deutsche Grammophon box set, Retrospective I. The collection includes seven full-lengths from the Icelandic composer, starting with his second studio album, Virðulegu Forsetar (2004), and going on through his scores for Dís (also 2004), And In The Endless Pause There Came The Sound Of Bees (2009), The Miners' Hymns (2011), Copenhagen Dreams (2012), Free the Mind (also 2012) and the previously unreleased White Black Boy score. A version of the retrospective is on Spotify now, and the physical box set, which includes a limited-edition book, will be released this Friday in Europe and in May for the US, according to FACT. A second volume, Retrospective II, is scheduled for 2020. To mark the release, Grammaphon has unveiled a short documentary, On The Trails Of Jóhann Jóhannsson, featuring interviews with Jóhannsson's parents, Dustin O'Halloran and more.
