  • Artists, labels, journalists, promoters and other members of the music community have been reacting to the news that Red Bull Music Academy and Red Bull Radio as we know them are shutting down by October 2019. Paul Woolford, Mor Elian, Eric Cloutier, Ciel, RP Boo, Throwing Snow, Violet and Plastician are among the voices discussing the imminent closure of the lecture, workshop, party and concert series, as well as the online radio station, on social media today. "My heart goes out to all the talented writers and producers and creators who made RBMA what it was who are now out of a job," Ciel wrote on Twitter. "Critiques of corporate sponsorship are one thing, but none of that delegitimizes the incredible work you all did to sustain and build our culture. Thank you." Cloutier tweeted, "I don't know who has that kind of bankroll and is willing to take so many unbiased risks and open people up to so many new worlds with music." He added: "It's going to be a dark time for us all without them, as 99 percent of what's left doesn't have the means to play the PR game and thusly will probably never leave their basements and bedrooms with their talent."
