  • The Red Bull Music Festival has announced names for its 2019 edition in New York, running from April 30th to May 18th. Back for its seventh installment and taking place at high-profile venues across the city, the program is a week shorter than in previous years. It opens with a performance from Catalan singer Rosalía at the newly renovated Webster Hall on April 30th. They've also booked noise-rap artist and poet Moor Mother at the BRIC cultural center in Brooklyn, as well as FKA twigs' first New York shows in four years: two back-to-back dates at the sprawling Park Avenue Armory. Holly Herndon will unveil her new live show for her upcoming album, PROTO, which incorporates an "ensemble of eight vocalists, Spawn (a nascent machine intelligence), machine learning specialists, choreographers and visual artists." For the closing night on May 18th, Black Flamingo will host a label showcase for Uganda's fast-rising Nyege Nyege Tapes, featuring Kampire alongside singeli artists MCZO & Duke (who you can learn more about in February's edition of The Hour). See the schedule thus far.
