MasterSounds is releasing a new range of products.
While the boutique company's hand-built rotary mixers have proven popular, owners Ryan Shaw and Andy Rigby-Jones have adopted a larger layout for a new flagship mixer, the 4V.
While the original line of mixers had a high-pass filter per-channel, the 4V comes with a three-band EQ and a Penny & Giles crossfader, gearing it toward regular club use. Under the hood, there's now a tube stage in the internal circuitry, featuring four matched dual triode valves offering soft compression, low noise and ample headroom. There's a three-band isolator on the master, VU meters and Burson V6 Classic summing amps on the output. The mixer also comes in a linear fader version.
Next comes an effects unit called MasterSounds FX, which is built to integrate with send/return systems or insert channels on your DJ mixer. It comprises three sections: an analogue distortion, a multi-mode analogue filter and a multi-effects section with four delays, three reverbs and noise. MasterSounds says the effects are designed to "blend into the mix rather than dominate the music."
The original Radius 2 and Radius 4 mixers have also been updated. The improvements bring them into line with the 4V, offering the same Burson V6 Classic amps on the output stage. Finally, a new power supply, the LinearPOWER PSU, has been released based on feedback from customers. Output can be switched between 5V, 18V or 21V, and it can also power Technics SL-1210 turntables.
