  • Tony Pike, founder of Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, is trying to raise money to help pay for his own cancer treatment. "I am 84 years old, and I have prostate cancer and skin cancer," writes Pike on his GoFundMe page, which went live last week. "People think I am a multimillionaire because the hotel is sold. The opposite is true," he continues, before going on to explain that he needs "dendritic cells therapy ASAP," a relatively new form of alternative cancer treatment. At the time of writing, Pike has achieved €854 of his €26,000 goal. Pike, a British-born Australian, opened the San Antonio hotel in 1978. It soon became known as a celebrity hangout, famously hosting Queen frontman Freddie Mercury's 41st birthday in 1987. In 2008, Pike sold the hotel to its current owners, Ibiza Rocks. Last year, Pike published a memoir titled Mr Pikes: The Story Behind The Ibiza Legend. Donate to his fund now.
