  • The late Jóhann Jóhannsson's final work, the soundtrack for Mandy, is coming out in September. The score for Mandy, a horror film directed by Panos Cosmatos and starring Nicolas Cage about a man who hunts a religious group that killed his wife, was started before the Icelandic composer's death back in February. As Pitchfork reports, the score for Mandy was written in collaboration with Randall Dunn and features Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O))) on guitar. The album was finished and assembled with co-producers Pepijn Caudron and Yair Glotman. It'll come out on Lakeshore Records—the same California label responsible for releasing the Stranger Things soundtracks—in collaboration with Invada. There's no tracklist as of yet. "Jóhann went above and beyond, and I suspect to the limits of his sanity, to make the music for this movie," Cosmatos says. Mandy is the latest Jóhann release of a handful following his death. His score for The Theory Of Everything was reissued on vinyl in April, and his first album, Englabörn, got a deluxe remaster and reissue in March. Listen to "Children Of The New Dawn."
Lakeshore Records will release Mandy on September 14th.
