  • Amoeba Music Hollywood will relocate to a new location near its original store. Co-owner Marc Weinstein told Variety that the store is considering three locations in the 20,000-square-foot range, two of them on Hollywood Boulevard. Weinstein also says the company will "be diligent" in pursuing a marijuana dispensary license for the new location; the company recently opened a curated weed store called Hi-Fidelity at its original Berkeley outpost. Last year, the 2015 sale of Amoeba's 6400 Sunset Boulevard building to a developer, GPI Companies, came to light. GPI, which plans to erect a multi-use high-rise on the site, leased the property back to Amoeba Records, but that lease runs out early next year. The Hollywood location currently employs around 200 people. Last year, as part of our Community Connections series, RA partnered with Amoeba Music to present in-store DJ sets from LA artists at the Hollywood location. Check out Pete Swanson's set for a look inside the store.
