- The UK artist heads up a full band, the 22archestra, on the new full-length.
Tenderlonious and the 22archestra will release an album called The Shakedown on 22a next month.
The nine-track LP sees Tenderlonious (real name Ed Cawthorne) leading a band he refers to as a "dream team," the 22archestra. (See full lineup below.) It's the first album Cawthorne's made with the new combo, which takes its name from his 22a imprint, though he's previously released a solo mini-album, On Flute, as well as a full-length collaboration with Dennis Ayler, 8rick Ci7y. The new record meshes the broken beat and jazz influences Tenderlonious has consistently mined with Afro and Latin sounds and "Bitches Brew-style ambience," according to the label.
