  • Beloved UK producer Luke Vibert is putting out a seven-inch EP on the US label People Of Rhythm, and he's planning dates for a rare tour of the States. Turn continues a connection between Vibert and People Of Rhythm boss Brian Keigher (AKA DJ Warp) that dates back to the early '00s. The two have played a handful of gigs together, and often talked about Vibert putting out a record on People Of Rhythm over the years. Now confirmed, it marks the label's return after a nearly two-decade hiatus. One of the four tracks is "JJP," which features and is dedicated to Jean-Jacques Perrey, the late French electronic music pioneer whom Vibert had previously worked with. The EP will be released on maroon-colored seven-inch vinyl and digital formats on May 25th. A portion of the proceeds from sales will go toward helping Vibert obtain a visa for his first US tour in over ten years, planned for August. Keigher, in his past role at Chicago's cultural affairs and events office, had booked a Vibert show at the famed Pritzker Pavilion back in 2011 as part of a mini-tour. It was eventually canceled when a former agent didn't secure a visa in time. On the calendar this summer are gigs in Chicago, San Francisco, New York and Wisconsin's Even Furthur Festival, where he's a headliner, with more bookings TBA. People Of Rhythm is also selling exclusive merchandise to help fund the US touring efforts, and the label says more new music from Vibert is on the way to support the cause. On top of that, some remixes for Turn are in the works, so far with Derrick Carter, Daedelus, Radioactive Man and Isan set to contribute. Listen to Turn's title track.
