  • Ostgut Ton has a new album from Martyn on the way. Voids, out in June, was inspired by a near-death experience. Produced during the months after Martyn suffered a heart attack, it features no guest vocalists or collaborators and is among the producer's most stripped-down records. Following LPs on Brainfeeder and Ninja Tune, Voids is Martyn's first album for Ostgut Ton, the Berghain-affiliated label he first linked up with in 2010. "That was the first record I listened to in my studio after coming out of the hospital," the producer says about M'Boom, a 1979 jazz percussion album that sparked Martyn's return to production. "Playing this record was such a surreal experience, the first music I consciously listened to after my recovery. I could hear so much space in the music, something I had never noticed before." On Thursday June 25th, Martyn will perform live at Säule to celebrate the album launch. Listen to a 2015 RA Exchange with Martyn.
