Hyperdub announces debut album from Proc Fiskal

- Joe Powers, AKA Proc Fiskal, is releasing his debut album, Insula, this spring. Insula takes the Edinburgh producer's uptempo sound to a more "personal and melodic" sound with "one foot in grime, infused with often comic, often wistful recorded moments from his environment," according to label Hyperdub. The press notes compare the music to the work of Terror Danjah as well as the kind of video game music released on Hyperdub's compilation Diggin' In The Carts late last year. "I used clips of my friends talking, drunk folk and general Scottish life to preserve and represent what my experience is like right now—like a time capsule," says Powers. "Social media notification sounds are designed to release serotonin, which is what I'd like my music to do—to make me and other people happy.
