  • Another one of Jóhann Jóhannsson's works is being reissued this spring. The late Icelandic composer, who died in February, wrote the score for the 2014 film The Theory Of Everything, which portrayed the relationship between Stephen and Jane Hawking. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, the soundtrack made use of both acoustic and electronic elements, like much of Jóhannsson's wider body of work. Jóhannsson won the Golden Globe for best original score, and was also nominated for an Academy Award. The soundtrack first came out on wax around the time of the film's release, and this reissue will put 1500 more units in circulation, this time on blue vinyl. The Theory Of Everything is the latest in a spate of Jóhannsson reissues. Deutsche Grammophon has put together a deluxe version of his debut album, Englabörn, planned before his death, while his classic LP IBM 1401: A User's Manual also received its first vinyl release last year. Other notable film scores Jóhannsson has worked on include Arrival and Sicario. For more on Jóhannsson's work and legacy, check out our retrospective feature here.
