  • David Byrne is releasing a new album called American Utopia in March. American Utopia is produced by the former Talking Heads' frontman's frequent collaborator Brian Eno, along with Rodaidh McDonald, who has worked with the likes of Adele and The xx. The ten-track LP features contributions from a number of contemporary electronic music producers, including Oneohtrix Point Never, Jam City, Happa and Sampha. The album was revealed through a Byrne-curated series of writings, photos and music called Reasons To Be Cheerful, where he collects "stories, news, ideas, and other items that all either embody or identify examples of things that inspire optimism," according to the press release. "These songs don't describe an imaginary or possibly impossible place but rather attempt to depict the world we live in now," Byrne says. "Many of us, I suspect, are not satisfied with that world—the world we have made for ourselves. We look around and we ask ourselves—well, does it have to be like this? Is there another way? These songs are about that looking and that asking." Listen to first single "Everybody's Coming To My House."
