- The UK DJ is next in line for the Australian label's long-running mix series.
James Zabiela has mixed the next Balance Music compilation.
Balance 029, Zabiela's first official mix CD in seven years, has 58 tracks split between two 'acts' across two discs. Act 1 takes a mellow approach, featuring music from Talaboman, Kornél Kovács and Peverelist & Kowton, as well as a reworking of Debussy's "Reverie 68" by Second Storey and Appleblim. The second disc, meanwhile, includes club-focused fare from KiNK, Avalon Emerson, Special Request and A Sagittariun. Zabiela also contributes two new original productions, "Vines" and "X-Ray."
"My mission statement to myself with this project was that I wanted to make something that was rich and textured, something the listener could get lost in," says Zabiela. "Some people know me for my technical noodling but this really had to be about the music, while still challenging myself technically. My focus was very heavily on melody and combining songs that would have 'conversations' with each other."
