  • Burnt Friedman is putting out a retrospective album in December called Anthology 1980-2017. The 17-track set is said to chart Friedman's artistic development over the course of nearly four decades—during which time the Berlin-based artist has forged a rhythmically adventurous sound that weaves in elements of world music, dub, jazz and techno. (A press release also mentions the influence of his longtime collaborator, legendary Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit, who died in January.) It includes previously vinyl-only material he released through labels like Marionette, Latency and Dekmantel, along with four unreleased tunes, and it's set to come out on his own label Nonplace Records. Listen to "Monsun," which first appeared on Dekmantel last month.
