- Buy Corals Online is out in December.
A collaborative album from Posh Isolation cofounder Loke Rahbek and KYO member Frederik Valentin, called Buy Corals Online, is on the way via Editions Mego.
Buy Corals Online is the first time the two Copenhagen-based experimental artists and friends have worked together on a release. We're told the album sees them presenting an "aquatic-infused audio environment," while exploring "the sensual floating aspects of such environments." It was recorded near water at Valentin's studio, which is also located close to an aquarium, and the label points out Edo-period Japan as another apparent source of inspiration. That era saw growing interest in ukiyo, literally "floating world," the concept of an ideal world of entertainment and hedonistic pleasure that offered escape from everyday life. (The idea was realized in the form of places like kabuki theaters and brothels.)
Though they haven't teamed up to put out music until now, Rahbek and Valentin share a connection through Posh Isolation—RA's recent label of the month has put out records from both Valentin himself and his KYO project with Hannes Norrvide. Rhabek, meanwhile, debuted on Editions Mego earlier this year with his solo LP City Of Women.
