  • A compilation of unreleased material from Delano Smith is due out on Sushitech in September. Detroit Lost Tapes sees Smith, a longtime DJ and producer from the Motor City, digging deep into his archives with help from Sushitech boss Yossi Amoyal. The result is a set of eight unheard productions and two unreleased versions of tracks previously put out on Smith's Mixmode label. (One of those Mixmode tracks is "The Rock," which got a digital-only release in 2008.) The compilation will span an array of styles, from "classic Detroit house to [Smith's] more modern dubby sounds." It'll come as a vinyl triple-pack with gatefold artwork from Sushitech's in-house designer, Kerry Roper. Smith is a key Sushitech affiliate—over the past eight years or so, the label has been home to his two albums, 2012's An Odyssey and 2014's Twilight, as well as a number of other records.
