- It'll be released on the Junior Boys member's Geej label next month.
Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan has teamed up with Taraval for a new EP out on July 28th.
Taraval is Ryan Smith, a regular member of Caribou's touring band who has released two EPs of his solo productions on Four Tet's Text label. The two artists come from Hamilton, Ontario and have performed alongside each other before, but GJ006 marks the first time that Greenspan and Smith have offiicially collaborated. The EP was recorded in Greenspan's Hamilton studio using an array of hardware, and each of the five tracks were edited down from longer jam sessions, with no overdubs or post-production. The duo cite inspirations like Cluster and John Carpenter, along with more recent artists like Pearson Sound and Actress, in their quest to make "hypermodern techno" that takes influence from older synth greats.
The record comes on Greenspan's Geej label, which highlights Hamilton artists and has co-released work by Jessy Lanza and Junior Boys in the past.
