  • DAF, AKA Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, are releasing a new box set containing four of their classic albums. DAS IST DAF gathers the German group's albums from 1980 through 1982 on vinyl with download codes. DAF's earliest work touched on post-punk and industrial themes, but by the time of 1980's Die Kleinen Und Die Bösen—which was the first-ever album on Mute Records—they were hinting at a tougher rhythmic sound that they would flesh out on their next three albums for Virgin, including 1981's acclaimed Alles Ist Gut. The band had an enormous influence on electronic artists in the '80s, from experimental to industrial and EBM to what would later become house and techno. These four albums were reissued on CD by Mute in the late '90s, but haven't been pressed on vinyl since the '80s. DAS IST DAF, coming through Groenland Records, comprises Die Kleinen Und Die Bösen, Alles Ist Gut, Gold Und Liebe and Für Immer, all of which were produced by Conny Plank, who was famous for his work with Kraftwerk, Neu!, Cluster, Harmonia and other important Krautrock bands. The set will also feature a 7-inch called Reworks featuring new DAF recordings, as well as a 36-page booklet with unseen photos by Anton Corbijn and Sheila Rock. Listen to "Alles Ist Gut."
Groenland Records will release DAS IST DAF on September 29th, 2017.
