A new Manhattan nightclub called FREQ is being planned at 618 W. 46th Street in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood.
The building previously housed both Pacha, which closed at the beginning of last year, and, before that, the infamous Sound Factory. The new venture is being overseen by Antonio Piacquadio, co-owner of the New York branch of Space Ibiza, which is closing this month after nearly three years at that location.
Piacquadio filed an application to the local community board last month that describes a five-floor venue with a capacity of 2,665 people, a 4 AM liquor license and a tentative food menu. Music will run until 6 AM. The application, which is dated April 24th, needs to be approved by a few different city and state departments—such as the State Liquor Authority and the Department of Buildings—and will be voted on by the community board, before the club opens.
Piacquadio is also the managing director of Ibiza United, which was involved with the Sankeys Brooklyn location that closed after three weeks, as well as the club that replaced it, OPEN, which folded after a few months. (That location is now home to Analog BKLYN).
Piacquadio has not yet responded to RA's request for comment.
