  • Lawrence Le Doux has signed to Hivern Discs for an album called Music For Documentaries. Filmmaker Fabrizio Terranova reached out to the Belgian artist, real name Laurent Baudoux, to soundtrack his documentary about Donna Haraway, a philosopher of science, technology and nature who wrote the influential Cyborg Manifesto. Terranova ended up keeping four of his tracks for the movie, which portrays Haraway and her dog at home in Southern California, though all 14 tracks here grew from those experiments. "All of the tracks were created using a limited amount of instruments," the label writes, "with a deliberate crossover of old synthesizers like a Farfisa organ or Sequential Circuit's Pro-One and '90s technology like the Roland JD-800. It is curious that Lawrence says all his synths are 'half broken,' since the sounds he extracts from them are absolutely healing." The album will land on the Hivern Discs sublabel HVNX, which is focused on more experimental and conceptual music. Listen to the album cut "Koko The Gorilla."
