- Original vinyl stock of the group's second LP had also been found, but has since sold out.
A digital reissue of Telefon Tel Aviv's 2004 album Map Of What Is Effortless is out now via Ghostly International.
Like Joshua Eustis and the late Charles Cooper's 2001 debut LP Fahrenheit Fair Enough, Map Of What Is Effortless was released through Chicago's Hefty Records. Both albums saw the duo present a singular blend of glitchy IDM, downtempo and ambient, and both have earned enduring acclaim, but while Fahrenheit Fair Enough maintained an instrumental focus, the duo's sophomore effort was more song-based, and heavy on collaborations with vocalists Lindsay Anderson and Damon Aaron.
The nine-track album has long been hard to find in its original double-vinyl format, but Hefty sourced a "modest amount" of wax that had been stored for "over a decade," and made it available at The Ghostly Store. That stock was gone in less than a day—more vinyl, though, might be coming. Ghostly is also giving it a digital issue, with three bonus tracks including Ryuichi Sakamoto's remix of "Sound In A Dark Room."
This discovery follows Ghostly's 2016 reissue of the band's debut, Fahrenheit Fair Enough. Eustis, meanwhile, is continuing with Telefon Tel Aviv—Cooper passed away in 2009, shortly after the release of the pair's third LP Immolate Yourself, and the project had been dormant for years up until 2016. Eustis's Second Woman collaboration with Turk Dietrich has a new album due out this month.
