Radio Slave's Rekids label is launching a new vinyl-only series called Rekids Special Projects.
Having recently hit the 100-release mark with a two-tracker from the label boss, Rekids' next move is an offshoot described as "more techno-oriented." Special Projects will kick off with an EP from FBK, the primary alias of Columbus, Ohio's Kevin Kennedy. He's been DJing and producing for more than two decades, and in recent years he's appeared on labels like Marcel Dettmann Records—his track "Past Ownership" on MDR 016 was praised by RA's Will Lynch as the highlight of that 2015 compilation—and Barba Records. His 12-inch for Special Projects, From The Escaped Planet, is due out in mid-April.
The new series is also set to feature appearances from another US artist, Jon Hester, along with two producers who've previously surfaced on Rekids: German producer Markus Suckut (who's just issued his second album through his EXILE imprint) and Paris stalwart and Deeply Rooted chief DJ Deep.
No samples of From The Escaped Planet have been posted yet. For now, listen back to that 2015 cut from FBK, "Past Ownership."
