  • Behringer intends to make an affordable version of Moog's Minimoog Model D synthesiser. Company founder Uli Behringer once again took to music tech forum Gearslutz to announce his intention to recreate the iconic analogue synthesiser, which was originally available in the 1970s. The Model D is over 40 years old, meaning its design is in the public domain and can be directly copied without breaking patent laws. Behringer described the process of making a clone as a "rather minimal engineering effort" and said they will decide whether to bring it to market once a prototype is complete. Moog themselves started rebuilding the Model D last year, which retailed for over $3,500. The announcement follows Behringer's plan to design a complete line of synthesisers starting at $49.
