  • Nine musicians, including Floating Points, Dan Snaith of Caribou, Jeremy Greenspan of Junior Boys and Simian Mobile Disco's James Shaw, have collaborated on a performance of Frank McCarty's 1973 score Tactus Tempus. The LP, which contains two 15-minute pieces, was recorded in July of 2016 in the London studio of Hot Chip member Joe Goddard, who was involved in the production process. As Pitchfork reports, each musician is credited with a different electronic instrument, with Snaith using a Buchla 200E and Floating Points, real name Sam Shepherd, handling a Yamaha CS80. Tactus Tempus was first performed in 1973 by McCarty's group, BIOME, on five EMS Synthi synthesizers. The album will come out on Bandcamp on March 17th via Geej Recordings, before seeing release through other outlets on March 24th.
