- It features collaborations with Elysia Crampton, Rabit and Dutch E Germ, among others.
Chino Amobi will issue his debut album, PARADISO, as a joint release between UNO NYC and NON Worldwide in May.
The Virginia-based artist debuted in 2015 with an EP for UNO called Anya's Garden, the same year that he founded NON with Nkisi and Angel-Ho. He's had a few different solo and collaborative projects since then, including a 12-inch issued in collaboration with Berlin's CTM Festival, a two-track single with Rabit called Izlämic Europe and an EP for his own label called Airport Music For Black Folk. Amobi also featured on Dedekind Cut and Yves Tumor's recent mixtape, Trump$America.
His debut album, PARADISO, integrates poetry and audio collage with a conceptual narrative element. The label calls it "a musical epic set in a distorted Americana populated by a cast of sirens, demons, angels, imps, priests, hierophants, monsters and peasants." It features a long list of collaborators (though they're not denoted individually in the tracklist), including Elysia Crampton, Dutch E Germ, Rabit, Aurel Haize Obogbo, Haleek Maul, Embaci, Full Carnage and Jesse Hlebo.
