- Errorsmith, Avalon Emerson and Midland will also appear at the DJ duo's 20th anniversary celebration.
Optimo have announced the lineup for a festival celebrating their 20th anniversary.
Held across three stages at The Galvanizers Yard on Eastvale Place on August 6th, Optimo 20 is the first festival the veteran DJ duo have organised. JD Twitch and JG Wilkes—AKA Keith McIvor and Jonnie Wilkes—will invite Ben UFO, The Black Madonna, Midland, Avalon Emerson, Apeiron Crew and Sofay to DJ, while Errorsmith, Aurora Halal, Miss Red & The Bug, K-X-P and Happy Meals perform live.
McIvor and Wilkes established Optimo, a weekly Sunday night at Sub Club, in 1997. It ran continuously until 2010. (Sub Club has since hosted less regular Optimo parties on Friday nights.) Installing a singular music policy where soul, synth pop, industrial and post-punk was mixed with house and disco, Optimo was renowned for McIvor and Wilkes' unique approach to DJing.
"We could never have imagined that what started out as a small gathering of like minded freaks on Sunday nights at The Sub Club back in 1997 would flourish and endure two decades later," said McIvor. "Everyone we have invited is someone we feel a close affinity with personally and musically along with a few acts we have long wanted to bring to Glasgow but didn’t have the opportunity to do so until now."
A portion of the profits for the event will go to Glasgow-based charity Coalition For Racial Equality And Rights and various food banks.
